The 2017 Packaging & Processing Innovation and Design Awards (PIDA), has been developed by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the Australian Packaging & Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) and the Packaging Council of New Zealand (PCNZ).The inaugural PIDA Awards for Australia and New Zealand has been designed to recognise companies and individuals who are making a significant difference in their field. The PIDA Awards are the exclusive award program for all Australian entries into the prestigious WorldStar Packaging Awards.
The Save Food Packaging Awards ANZ is presented by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP). It is the inaugural launch of a global program developed by the World Packaging Organisation, in conjunction with Messe Dusseldorf and Interpack. It is designed to recognise companies who are developing innovative and sustainable packaging that minimises food losses and food waste, extends shelf life and improves the supply of food.
Since 1970, the World Packaging Organisation has been organizing WorldStar awards and providing awards to numerous packs from all around the world. The WorldStar Competition is one of the major events of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and is the pre-eminent global award in packaging. WordStar illustrates the continual advancement of the state of packaging design and technology and creates a living standard of international packaging excellence from which others may learn.
Each year WPO is recognizing the best of the best in packaging innovations from across the globe. WorldStars are presented only to those packages which, having already won recognition in a national competition, are compared by an expert panel of judges to similar packages from around the world. Awards are based on the judges' consensus that a package is superior in its own right and better in its class in execution or innovation by comparison.
The Good Design Awards® is Australia’s longest-standing national design award and promotion program, and one of the few forums for professional Industrial Designers and manufacturers to showcase their design expertise to national and international audiences.
The (APDA) Australian Packaging Design Awards was an annual run competition for brand owners, designers, retailers, manufacturers and raw material suppliers to enter their packaging creations and had run for near 40 years.
The Packaging Council of Australia (PCA), which conducted these Awards, was the national packaging association representing companies right across the packaging supply chain up until 2015. Winners qualified for entry to the WPO WorldStar awards.
